Lori Garrabrant

Lori is a ceramic artist and a coach/consultant based on Nantucket Island.

After developing a deep love for ceramics in high school, she went on to pursue multiple art degrees from the University of Vermont and Massachusetts College of Art with a focus in ceramics and art education. Lori is long-time art teacher/mentor and former Director of Education for the Artists Association of Nantucket. In 2020, Lori founded Twelve Gray, a ceramics studio and consulting space here on the island.

Lori is forever exploring the intersection of art and science in her art making process and takes great inspiration from her island surroundings, particularly the color palette of our gorgeous island beaches and the repetition of the ocean's movement and ripples in sand. Her work is minimal, yet expressive, and she takes tremendous care to ensure that each piece is extremely well-crafted for its specific function. She produces small batches of ceramic homegoods for our local market, as well as production lines for wholesale. Lori also works with restaurants, homeowners, and businesses on customized designs for large scale sculptural pieces, as well as home decor and dinnerware.

Lori also provides coaching/consulting services for schools, businesses, and other creatives/students looking for guidance on studio construction, art school applications, creative business plans, and curates artisan goods for retail spaces.

Please visit the Twelve Gray website for more information about these offerings.
