I began creating Sailor’s Valentines and seashell art during the summer of 2019 on Nantucket. I signed up for a class with a world renowned seashell artist at the Nantucket Historical Association and immediately fell in love. Although meticulous, I quickly found this art to be incredibly therapeutic, and appreciate the history and hard work associated with its origins. I developed a newfound respect for antique forms of folk art and am grateful to have discovered an outlet for my creativity. I enjoy collecting overlooked shells and using them to create a mosaic of unique, nautical beauty.
